About Ferocactus glaucescens

Known in botany as Ferocactus glaucescens, this cactus belongs to the Cactaceae family and comes from Mexico and southwestern USA. It is characterized by barrel-shaped body with curved robust spines, an evolutionary adaptation that makes it a unique piece in the world of succulents.

We grow Ferocactus glaucescens at Succulentae, in the heart of the Almería desert, where the dry Mediterranean climate replicates the ideal conditions for the plant to develop its compact form and best coloration. It’s the difference between a succulent grown under real sun and a greenhouse one — and it shows in shape, color and longevity.
