About Sempervivum calcareum
Sempervivum calcareum, of the Crassulaceae family, originates in mountainous Europe (Alps, Pyrenees, Carpathians) and has spread to home cultivation thanks to its beauty and resilience. The most striking thing about this plant is compact rosettes, with cobwebs in some spp., a feature that defines its personality and sets it apart within its genus.
At Succulentae we produce Sempervivum calcareum with artisanal technique in southeastern Spain, following a cultivation protocol that replicates the sun, dryness and mineral conditions of its native habitat. It's the difference between a succulent grown under real sun and a greenhouse one — and it shows in shape, color and longevity.
