About Mammillaria carmenae var. rubrispina

Known in botany as Mammillaria carmenae var. rubrispina, this cactus belongs to the Cactaceae family and comes from mainly Mexico. Its most distinctive feature is body covered in mamillae (tubercles) instead of ribs, a trait that makes it unmistakable even among advanced collectors.

At Succulentae we grow every Mammillaria carmenae var. rubrispina directly in our nursery in southeastern Spain, in conditions of intense sun, low humidity and mineral substrate that replicate its natural habitat. It's the difference between a succulent grown under real sun and a greenhouse one — and it shows in shape, color and longevity.
